Meet Dr. Sam Harouni
Dr. Sam Harouni, DDS, is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing in Bakersfield. His work covers dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, TMJ surgery, sleep apnea and corrective jaw surgery, with a preference for the least invasive method that will do the job properly.
He is a graduate of UCLA and earned his dental degree at the University of Southern California in 2013. From there he completed an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery and head and neck cancer at the University of Florida, Jacksonville, followed by his surgical residency at Emory University School of Medicine.
That path matters for a practical reason. Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires up to six additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training beyond dental school. It is why sedation and general anesthesia are administered in this office rather than referred out, and why cases other practices refer elsewhere are treated here.

How we work
As A Patient, You Are The Number One Priority
That phrase gets used by every practice, so here is what it actually means in this one.
- One surgeon handles your whole case. Extractions, grafting, implant placement and the anesthetic are all done here. You are not coordinating between three offices while your plan changes.
- You get the plan in writing before anything starts. Itemized, so you can see what each part costs rather than being handed one number.
- Nothing is done at the first visit. The consultation is for a scan, an examination and a conversation. You go home and think about it.
- Second opinions are welcome. Bring a plan from another office and we will go through it line by line, including the parts where their recommendation was right.
- The least invasive option that works. If a simpler treatment will do the job, that is the one you will be offered, even where a bigger one would earn more.
Because every implant option is offered here, from a single tooth through to implants anchored in the cheekbone, the recommendation is not limited by what the office happens to do. That is the difference between advice and a product pitch.
Comfort
A Friendly Experience, Start To Finish
Nobody looks forward to oral surgery. What can change is how the day feels, and that is mostly down to preparation and to the people in the room.
- You choose your comfort level. Local anesthetic, IV sedation, or fully asleep. All three are available here, so you are not talked into the one the office can offer.
- Narcotic-free pain control. Exparel, a long-acting local anesthetic, can extend comfort well past the first day without opioids.
- You know the plan before you arrive. Surgeries are mapped from the 3D scan in advance, so the day itself holds fewer surprises for everyone.
- Consultations in English and Farsi. Discussing surgery in a second language is harder than it sounds, and it should not be something you have to manage.
- Someone answers the phone. If something feels wrong after surgery, calling early is always easier than waiting, and the team would rather hear from you.
